Overview

Today's businesses require the robust security offered by a dedicated firewall appliance for their growing networks. These same businesses also inevitably require switching capabilities to connect multiple users and workgroups. Until recently, these solutions had to be purchased as separate products, resulting in higher costs and increased deployment and management complexity.

The SonicWALL PRO 1260, part of SonicWALL's PRO Series, is a total security and switching platform for small businesses and branch offices. The PRO 1260 combines deep inspection firewall, IPSec VPN, gateway anti-virus, intrusion prevention, and content filtering capabilities with a wire-speed, 24-port auto-sensing MDIX Layer 2 switch in a single, convenient network security and LAN switching platform. This highly integrated, rack-mountable security appliance ships in an unrestricted node configuration and supports SonicWALL's portfolio of leading security services, providing the convenience of a scalable, all-in-one solution with a low total-cost-of-ownership.

The PRO 1260 includes support for SonicWALL's Gateway Anti-Virus/Intrusion Prevention Service, providing real-time protection against viruses, worms, Trojans and other malicious threats. Also standard on every PRO 1260 is SonicOS Standard, SonicWALL's next-generation operating system, which features a streamlined Web GUI and comprehensive suite of easy-to-use configuration and management wizards that guides users through the configuration steps for common user network environments or scenarios, making it simple to set up in any network environment.

The PRO 1260 can be easily managed remotely as part of a multi-firewall and VPN environment through a Web interface or using SonicWALL's industry-leading Global Management System (GMS). This gives network administrators an economical yet powerful set of tools for rapid deployment, configuration, and management of global security policies from a central location.

Every SonicWALL PRO 1260 ships with SonicOS Standard and includes:

* Real-Time Gateway Anti-Virus and Intrusion Prevention. The PRO 1260 extends security from the network core to the perimeter by integrating support for SonicWALL's Gateway Anti-Virus/Intrusion Prevention Service, delivering real-time protection against the latest blended threats, including viruses, worms, Trojans, software vulnerabilities and other malicious code.
* Integrated 24-Port auto-MDIX Layer 2 Switch. The PRO 1260 features an integrated 24-port, wire-speed auto-MDIX Layer 2 switch that allows multiple home or office computers to network together.
* Deep Packet Inspection Firewall. The PRO 1260 features a configurable, high performance deep packet inspection firewall for extended protection to key Internet services such as Web, e-mail, file transfer, Windows services, and DNS.
* Dynamic DNS. The PRO 1260 includes Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS) support, which drastically reduces the costs associated with hosting e-mail servers, Web servers and site-to-site VPN by allowing the use of dynamic IP addresses.
* Optional Port. The PRO 1260 includes an optional port that can be configured as a demilitarized zone (DMZ) for public-facing servers or Internet resources.
* Hardware AES Support. The PRO 1260 reflects SonicWALL's commitment to open security standards by including hardware-based acceleration support for the 3DES and AES encryption algorithms.
* Comprehensive Central Management Support. Every SonicWALL Internet security appliance can be managed using SonicWALL's award-winning Global Management System, which provides network administrators with the tools for simplified configuration, enforcement and management of global security policies, VPN, and services, all from a central location.
